Kimberly Adrienne Connors
Teaching Portfolio

rule

I received my Undergraduate degree in Learning Disabilities and Elementary Education from the University of Wisconsin Eau Claire, and graduated in May 2005.

Throughout high school and college, I have had numerous activities working with children, both paid and volunteer. While in college, I belonged to many organizations including Student Council for Exceptional Children (SCEC) and Best Buddies. I have also served as a Co-Leader for a Daisy Girl Scout Troop in the Eau Claire area.

Including volunteer work and student organizations, I have also belonged to the Bowling Club, where I have served as club Secretary. Throughout college, I was also a member of the Bowling Traveling team where I served for two years as Co-President of the Wisconsin Collegiate Bowling Conference (WCBC).

During my professional semester, I was a special education intern for the Altoona School District. I worked with 5th and 6th grade children who have Learning Disabilities and/or Emotional Behavior Disabilities. I also completed student teaching in a 4th grade general education classroom. Although the students keep me extremely busy, I am learning a great deal about myself and teaching. This experience has allowed me the opportunity to serve as a full time classroom teacher for an entire semester, while still have receive some guidance on various issues that arise.

My main teaching interest is in Special Education. I find it both very challenging and exciting. Working with children is a very rewarding career because as a teacher, I get to see them grow up and strive to be their best. Children have all sorts of abilities, teachers just have to work with the students to help them realize what they are capable of.
